STEPS PDBP Program

Implemented the project during Jan 2009- Dec 2010 in Srikalahasti and Thottambedu mandals Supported by Lead partner Vasavya Mahila Mandali, Vijayawada, funding from Abbott fund, USA.

Objectives:

To provide Home community based HIV/AIDS care and support

Project Activities:

Integrated services to the PLHAs .Organized care, support and treatment to the more number of People living with HIV/AIDS. Prevention of new infections among high risk population. Supported income generation activities. Given nutritional support. Developed linkages with government programs. Arranged educational support and welfare services to the CLHAs, CAAs .Skill development of the support groups. Psycho social support to the PLHAs. strengthen Grannies clubs.

Achievements:

People came to know about TB, DOTs. Stigma and discrimination reduced in the community. Self Help Groups (SHGs) are involved in the program activities. All SHG members came to know the information and awareness about STI, HIV/AIDS. All People living with HIV/AIDS were provided treatment and medicines STI clinics. 115 people were referred to PPTCT. 1135 adolescent girls were created HIV Awareness, 115 women given training in ANC Care. 14 trainings organised on SRH Education for 1172 adolescent girls. 160 Adults provided HIV Awareness in 14 meetings. 244 people in Community were created HIV Awareness. 100 Children providedTraining in Life Skill Education. 11 Children provided Educational Support. 50 School Children were created HIV Awareness in 10 meetings. 520 Self Help Group (SHG) members were created HIV Awareness. 20 people given OI Treatment. 5725 visited the Photo Stall Exhibition, 754 people witnessedVideo Shows. 1200 College Students were created HIV Awareness. 6 Advocacy meetings organized with 84 Stake Holders. 358 ANMs & ICDS Staff participated in Sensitization meeting. 4 Advocacy meetings conducted for Doctors, Press &Media, Lawyer & PHC ANMs, 103 stake holders participated in meetings. 377 people participated in 5 Observational Days
